Hauterageous Style Sense: Dakota Fanning at the New Moon Premiere

By HauteGirl84 · November 17, 2009 · 1 Comment · 27 Views

Dakota Fanning looked ADORABLE at the New Moon premiere in this strapless Valentino! I am living for this dress! I love that she's so young but still has a really great sense of style... and keeps it age appropriate (Taylor Momsen- I'm looking at you...) To die. I'm MAYBE not loving the shoe choice- but I can deal with it. What do you think?

UPDATE: Just heard that the dress is made of LEATHER. Mind. Blown. This dress is incredible!

Trend Alert: Sequins

By HauteGirl84 · November 3, 2009 · 2 Comments · 39 Views
The holiday season is upon us and you know what that means- sequins, sequins, sequins! Sequins for fall are a great way to jazz up an otherwise blah ensemble. I love layering sequins over a monochromatic palette with plenty of knits. I'm totally in L-O-V-E with the Phillip Lim sequined tuxedo jacket- it is so perfect with a pair of dark skinny jeans and a white tank underneath and a really fantastic sky-high heel. Also loving the sequined cardi trend- throw one on to instantly add a touch of glam to a pair of plain old jeans. And don't be scared to rock them in the daytime- daytime sequins are totally ok with the proper styling! Keep the rest of the look simple and don't over-do the makeup! For the more cautious fashionistas a sequined beret is a good way to dip your toe into the water without committing to a full on sparkle look! A word of caution: only wear ONE sequined piece at a time! This isn't Cirque du Soleil....

How To: Update Your Summer Jumpsuit For Fall

By HauteGirl84 · October 28, 2009 · 0 Comments · 31 Views

As a chill settles into the air and the leaves start to change an age-old question pops up- "What do I do with all my fave summer pieces?!" My go-to trend this summer was definitely the jump suit and as the weather turns instantly shorts UNfriendly, I've been looking for ways to fall-ize my jumpsuits. Check out these easy tweaks to make your summer jumpsuit winter-appropriate.

Charm Ruffle Romper $58.00 at Arden B

Frenzii 6164MOLB $92.00$64.50 by Frenzii at Rumor

Jeanie Jumpsuit $24.80 at Forever 21

Josh Brody Romper $130.00 at Intuition

1. Tights.

A pair of tights will instantly add a bit of polish to a jumpsuit and protect against a chill. Try a brightly colored opaque pair for a little kick or keep it classic in black. If you're REALLY feeling adventurous, layer a pair of fishnets over an opaque black for a funky, downtown texture.

Wolford Winter Soft Logic Tights - Opaque Black $58.00 by Wolford at Barneys New York

AE Classic Tights$12.50 at American Eagle

Opaque Tights $12.00 at Free People

HUE Palm Springs Block Control Top Tights Panty Hose $20.00 by Hue at Bare Necessities

Wolford Marina Tights $65.00 by Wolford at Barneys New York

2. Throw on an oversized grandpa cardi or a boyfriend blazer

Play with proportions and throw on something oversized to simultaneously keep you toasty AND on trend. For a more polished look, keep your pieces monochromatic. To add a bit more of a kick, choose a piece in a different but complementary shade.

Alex Wang's IT Dress: Love it, or Sick of it?

By HauteGirl84 · October 21, 2009 · 1 Comment · 72 Views
I swear, I adore Alex Wang... and this dress is super gorge, but I've gotten SO sick of it! It's been on Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, the now canceled The Beautiful Life, (which, hello? I think the CW shares every single prop on their show... I keep seeing the same outfits, computers, phones, etc. over and over!) Khloe Kardashian has worn it on the red carpet and I swear, it's been on a million other celebs. But... it's still a beautiful dress and I think the Bebe dress is definitely a cute alternative. What do you think? Is it played out or still hot?

Styling Q's Answered! Fall Faves & Spicin' it Up.

By HauteGirl84 · October 9, 2009 · 0 Comments · 34 Views

Welcome to my first Styling Q's Post! I LOVE LOVE LOVE solving styling dilemmas and will be solving yours as they come up! My first email came from a pal who 's asking two HUGE questions. I'll tackle 'em one at a time! Let's dive in:

"My closet consists of all solid-colored clothes and I'm looking to spice it up. And 2 - If I end up only buying one article of clothing on Friday (unlikely), what do you think is a Fall must-have?  Keep in mind, I'll be rocking this in Miami!!!  We don't really have a Fall. :( "

The good thing about having a closet full of solid colors is that you can re-use pieces all the time and it doesn't look like you're wearing the same thing by just doing a few easy tweaks. Here are 5 ways to spice up your "basic" outfit:

1. Accessorize! The easiest way to spice up an outift is accesories! Get crazy with shoes, jewelery and scarves and you can immediately revamp the same old tee and jeans. I recommend getting some really awesome peep toe booties... I bought a pair last week that I've been living in non stop and it instantly adds a chic factor to every single outfit. I went to the podiatrist today in a white bf tee, ripped jeans and the booties..no make up, no jewelery and the nurse told me I "looked so nice!" The power of one amazing accessory! Here are the accessories I think every girl NEEDS to have:

- A couple of scarves
- A pair of fun, boho chic earrings
- A killer pair of peep toe booties
- A major cocktail ring
- Some mix and match bracelets
- A statement necklace
- Black tights

Any one of these pieces can instantly transform a "blah" outfit!

2. Try a printed cardi. Right now, I'm totally obsessing over rugby stripe cardigans paired with a floaty top in an unexpected color... don't be scared by mixing colors! I'm also dying for a leopard print cardigan- preferably in an off color. I'm on the hunt for one in gray/white/royal blue. You can also try one in a girly floral or any fun print. Just be careful- if you're trying to rock a floral cardi, make sure it's cropped and in a sexier cut... you don't want to look like a granny! And for heaven's sake... it's not a tea party; liven it up a bit! Try to pick a more voluminous top and use the cardigan to reign it in!

3. Throw a boyfriend blazer over it. It's here for at least another season, gals. I'm a huge proponent of the boyfriend blazer... it's my solution to practically every styling crisis. When in doubt, throw on a bf blazer. They're just so very NOW and instantly elevate any outfit. For a more versatile look, stick with a black to wear with jeans, leggings and basically anything under the sun. For a different feel, try one in a chambray or I'm loving dove gray.I

4. A really sexy, slouchy pair of boyfriend jeans with heels. Even in a tee you look chic. Done.

5. Leather. Leather skirt, leather shorts, leather leggings, leather jacket. This Fall, you can get anything and everything in leather. Try something monochromatic and covered for a really elegant feel. A note: if you're wearing a skirt or shorts... wear black tights; it's just so much more chic.

As for the second part of the question? My NUMBER ONE FAVE FALL TREND? Isn't it obvious?? I'm obsesssssed with peep toe booties. Here are a few of my faves:

Juicy Couture Nakia Three Buckle Peep Toe Ankle Booties

$325.00 by Juicy Couture at shopbop.com

Madden Girl Women's Kendraa Open Toe Bootie With Buckles

$59.95 by Madden-Girl at Endless.com

Vince Camuto 'Della' Bootie

So? What do you think? How do you spice up your wardrobe? What's YOUR fave fall trend?

Fash On TV: The City- Fakes, Excuses, and... Joe Zee in jeans and a leather hoodie???

By HauteGirl84 · October 7, 2009 · 0 Comments · 29 Views

I'll admit... The City is sort of a guilty pleasure for me. And while I'm alternately loving and loathing it  as I watch, I can't tear myself away. Mostly because I work in the fashion industry and interned and freelanced in the fashion department at a major women's magazine and the fakery really just drives me batty.

Let's start with my Olivia rant. I adore her, I do. She's always flawless looking and so polished and chic. Her hairstyles make me want to grow out my bangs for a second. But I HATE her attitude! Last week, when she said to Erin "If you don't like it, you can do it yourself?!" WHAT WAS THAT? That is just so unacceptable and rude, I can't even deal. It would never fly at a mag. Not to mention the fact that when you pull for a TV segment, photo shoot, ANYTHING, there's always a MINIMUM of 2 or 3 racks of alternates, selections and you ALWAYS have all the right sizes when you're dealing with models and girls. Her excuse about "there not being anything" is a total load of CRAP. I speak from experience. This week wasn't much better. More excuses, more attitude. I love me some Erin!!! She's fantastic and I love that she puts Olivia in her place every single time. Whatever, from the looks of the previews Olivia's bad behavior will NOT go unnoticed. By the way, I have to add how much I adoreeeee Joe Zee. He's so fantastic and his outfits were awesome. Love him.

Whit and Roxy

What is UP with Roxy's eyebrows? They're constantly distracting me all episode long. I am not her biggest fan. Last week she just rubbed me the wrong way the whole time. First with her TERRIBLE interview at People's Rev (which in real life, she'd NEVER have gotten the job between her bashing of a former employer, cursing, calling herself a bitch and just her general demeanor. Oh yeah, and the way she talked crap about Whit?) THEN the whole party fiasco was just... ugh. Who does that when they're staying at someone's place as a guest? SO unchic. This week she was stepping over Kelly Cutrone's toes and just generally trying to take control of everything. Poor Whit got the short end of the stick and got stuck with the blame for not bringing any clamps after Kel specifically told them to bring them. At least Kelly stuck it to Roxy and told her off for trying to go over her head. I love Kelly Cutrone. Loved Whit's braids at the end.

Can't wait for next week! What did YOU think of The City? Who's your fave? Least Fave?

By HauteGirl84 · October 5, 2009 · 2 Comments · 74 Views

Ok, confession: I am totally obsessed with Vanessa Hudgens. I LOVE HER. And I realize that as an adult woman and not a 9 year old girl, this is a ludicrous statement. But I admit it- I love her style. She's always dressed fabulously and her hair always looks incredible. And, hello, she has Zac Efron as arm candy! Please... The girl has obviously got it going on. I love that she never really plays it safe and always is right on-trend.

Some trademark 'Vanessa-isms': boho chic; floaty, chiffon tops, killer medallion necklaces, ripped jean shorts, skinny dark denim, metal aviators, fringed EVERYTHING, loaded with vintage feeling jewels, fabulous wavy hair!
